Job description
As part of a current research project, we are investigating the welding of three-sheet joints using resistance spot welding (WPS) in order to predict parameters for the actual welding process. In your thesis, you will build an AI model that determines characteristic features of the welding project based on simulation data from a finite element simulation. You will structure and plan the simulation tests, evaluate them, and build an AI model based on them. You will then examine this model for the sensitivity of various input data and analyze the transferability and expandability of the model to different material compositions.
Requirements
- Studies in Computational Engineering, Materials Science, Engineering, or comparable (Bachelor's/Master's)
- Programming skills, preferably in Python
- Interest in modern manufacturing technologies and welding processes
- Programming experience, ideally in Python
- Knowledge of finite element methods or AI models is an advantage
- Structured, independent working style and ability to work in a team
Benefits & conditions
- A great team and open, collegial cooperation
- Insight into modern technologies and innovative manufacturing processes
- Collaboration with industrial partners
- Flexible time management for your thesis
- Opportunity to incorporate your own ideas into your work
The work can be supervised at TU Berlin or in cooperation with other universities.
No remuneration is paid.
The duration of the thesis depends on the requirements of your university.
