Job description

We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Data Protection Analyst to join our Regulatory & Compliance team on a part time basis (either 3 full days or 4-5 days part time days). This role is critical in ensuring the organisation meets its data protection obligations and maintains best practices in handling personal and sensitive data. You will act as the first point of contact for all data protection queries, manage key compliance processes, and support the Data Protection Officer in safeguarding the company's data integrity.

Duties include:

  • Review and update data protection policies and procedures to reflect regulatory changes and best practices.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with data protection regulations and internal policies.
  • Provide expert advice as the first point of contact for all data protection matters across the business.
  • Investigate and manage data breaches, ensuring timely reporting and remediation.
  • Maintain and update the data register and ICO records, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and other data subject rights requests in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT, Legal, and other departments to embed data protection principles into business processes and systems.
  • Conduct external horizon scanning to identify emerging risks, regulatory changes, and industry trends.
  • Maintain records of processing activities and ensure documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Support data sharing initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and contractual obligations.
  • Deliver tailored training sessions for selected colleagues and teams.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Certificate in Payroll Practice, Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals certification?, Do you have experience in Sage?, * Degree-level education or equivalent preferred.

  • Professional certification in data protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM) is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in data protection compliance within a regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of data sharing principles and practices.
  • In-depth understanding of GDPR and other relevant data protection legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to advise and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
