Job description

Working closely with the Head of Digital Transformation, you'll shape and deliver the data-driven initiatives that power smarter decision-making across the firm.

This is a hands-on, technically demanding role where you'll enhance and evolve our data platform using Microsoft Fabric, transforming complex datasets into meaningful insights that improve operational efficiency and client service, while also leading a small team of Data Specialists.

You'll collaborate with stakeholders across the business to understand their data needs, translating them into technical specifications and designing solutions that unlock value, all whilst leveraging AI, automation and advanced analytics where they can make the biggest impact.

As the driving force behind high-quality data engineering, reporting and visualisation, you'll set technical standards, champion best practice whilst ensuring our technology stack remains industry-leading.

What you'll be doing:

Solutions Development and Delivery

  • Gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Design and implement data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, AI, and automation tools.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualisations (e.g., Power BI).

Team Leadership

  • Lead and provide technical direction to a team of two Data Specialists.
  • Prioritise and oversee the team's workload, ensuring high-quality outputs.
  • Support the ongoing professional development of team members.

Data Platform Ownership

  • Act as the primary SME for Bidwells' Microsoft Fabric Data Platform.
  • Drive platform adoption by identifying use cases and working with stakeholders to deliver solutions.
  • Integrate new data sources and ensure data structure, accuracy, and quality across systems.
  • Troubleshoot data-related issues and implement effective resolutions.

AI and Automation

  • Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to improve efficiency and save time across the business.
  • Prepare and optimise datasets for AI applications.
  • Support the Head of AI with organisation-wide adoption of AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot.

Technology Strategy

  • Work with the Head of Digital Transformation to advance data-driven initiatives and shape Bidwells' technology roadmap.
  • Stay up to date with best practices and emerging trends in data, analytics, and AI.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies that improve processes, drive efficiencies, and support business growth.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across all offices to understand their data needs.
  • Communicate complex data insights clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Support business development with data-driven content for client presentations and proposals.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Statistical analysis?, * Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics)

  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric components, including Fabric Lakehouses, Delta Lake, Dataflow Gen2 and medallion architecture
  • Proficiency in PySpark/Spark SQL for notebook-based data transformation
  • Strong understanding of Entra ID security models, service principals and workspace access management
  • Familiarity with Azure services such as Key Vault, Azure SQL and Purview for data governance
  • Advanced Power BI skills with experience in data visualisation and reporting
  • Strong SQL skills with proven data modelling and data warehousing experience
  • Experience with ETL processes, data integration and multi-source data management
  • Knowledge of Python or R
  • Experience working directly with senior stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong commitment to data accuracy and quality
  • Familiarity with AI concepts and real-world applications

Desirable

  • Experience in real estate, property or professional services.
  • Understanding of property data, planning systems or natural capital metrics.
  • Experience with statistical analysis or machine learning techniques (e.g., XGBoost, Random Forest).
  • Knowledge of GDPR and data protection legislation.
  • Relevant certifications in data analytics, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI or related fields.
