Our experienced team is dedicated to delivering reliable and responsive IT services that improve day-to-day operations and enhance the learning environment. Whether through system maintenance, troubleshooting, or implementation of educational tools, we help schools get the best from their technology., We are currently seeking a proactive and experienced Roaming IT Technician to support a Multi Academy Trust consisting of a small number of primary and secondary sites.
The successful candidate will be based in UB4 8JP area 3 days per week and travel to TW13 7EF twice a week. This is a hands-on technical role focused on ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems and providing timely support to staff and students across the Trust. The role involves travelling between school sites as required, and working collaboratively with both on-site staff and the wider AIT support team.
The successful candidate will report directly to AIT's senior management team and will have access to a broader technical team to escalate more complex issues., * Provide daily on-site and remote IT support to staff and students across a small cluster of schools.
- Maintain IT systems and infrastructure, including hardware, software, printers, AV equipment, and networking.
- Troubleshoot and resolve 1st and 2nd line technical issues related to devices, connectivity, and user access.
- Escalate more complex issues to the appropriate 3rd line or HQ support teams as needed.
- Support the setup and deployment of new equipment, ensuring devices are configured in line with school standards.
- Assist with user account administration, including password resets, permissions, and profile setups via Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
- Perform regular checks, updates, and basic preventative maintenance across all sites.
- Follow IT procedures and contribute to documentation to support ongoing service improvement.
- Report regularly to senior management with updates on IT performance, issues encountered, and completed tasks.
- Work in line with safeguarding policies and ensure responsible data handling in accordance with GDPR.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving Licence license?, Do you have experience in Leadership?, * Minimum 2 years' experience in an IT support role, preferably in an education or multi-site environment.
- Strong technical knowledge across Windows operating systems, networking fundamentals, and Office 365.
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and common school systems.
- Effective troubleshooting skills with a methodical and solution-focused approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a calm, user-friendly approach.
- Comfortable working independently while also collaborating with a wider technical support team.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for travel between sites).
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or ITIL are desirable.
