Job description

Join Operation Hydrant as a Crime Analyst in Sheffield. This pivotal role within the Analytical Team supports the national coordination hub for non-recent child sexual abuse cases. As a Crime Analyst, you will play a key role in facilitating collaborative efforts and expediting the sharing of intelligence, contributing significantly to a vital area of police work.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Collect, collate, evaluate, and analyse information from various internal and external sources.
  • Produce and develop high-quality analytical products to support both tactical and strategic decision-making.
  • Develop inferences and test hypotheses to create analytical products, briefings, and formal reports, including conclusions and recommendations.
  • Support performance monitoring for UK police forces and key partner agencies concerning non-recent child sex abuse.
  • Respond to bespoke requests and present analysis results in suitable formats to all relevant parties, including external organisations.
  • Gather, verify, and assess all appropriate and available information to gain an accurate understanding of situations and their strategic or tactical/operational context.
  • Assess threats, risks, and harm, considering the wider impact of decisions.
  • Exercise discretion and professional judgement to ensure decisions/recommendations are appropriate and proportionate, reviewing all decisions in light of new information.
  • Undertake any other duties that are commensurate with the role and grade as requested by management.

Requirements

Excel, Police, * Previous experience within the Police forces, ideally suited for an Ex-Police Officer, Ex-Child Sexual Abuse Officer or Crime Data Analyst.

  • Demonstrated high level of critical and analytical thinking, being methodical, creative, and having an eye for detail.
  • Experience in researching, processing, and analysing large volumes of data through the use of analytical techniques and products, RISC Trained.
  • Effective report writing and presentation skills, with experience delivering to all levels of an organisation.
  • Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure, possessing good time management skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Advanced Level Excel.
  • Good understanding of policing databases.
  • Desirable: A working knowledge of the HOLMES system, previous experience of, or trained in the use of i2, Microsoft Reporting, Mapping, or equivalent software.
