Job description
As Focused Energy builds its in-house IT organization across Germany and the U.S., the IT Support Specialist plays a vital role in providing hands-on, day-to-day technical support for employees in our Darmstadt and Berlin offices.
You'll ensure our teams stay connected, productive, and secure by resolving IT issues, maintaining devices and systems, and assisting with onboarding and infrastructure projects under the guidance of the Senior IT Manager and IT Director.
This role is ideal for someone with a developing IT background who enjoys problem-solving, learning new systems, and supporting colleagues in a collaborative environment.
What You'll Do
- Provide onsite and remote technical support for employees in Darmstadt (or Berlin).
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues across Windows and macOS environments.
- Assist with account setup, access provisioning, and onboarding/offboarding activities.
- Support IT inventory management, including device imaging, configuration, and tracking.
- Maintain and update internal documentation for support processes and FAQs.
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior team members or vendors, ensuring timely resolution.
- Help deploy and maintain productivity and collaboration tools (Microsoft 365, Box).
- Assist with security and compliance tasks, such as device patching, MFA setup, and access reviews.
- Participate in IT improvement projects, such as migration to cloud providers, DLP, EDR or rollout of unified management systems.
- Deliver high-quality support experiences that reflect Focused Energy's global, cross-functional culture.
Requirements
Do you have experience in macOS?, * 3-5 years of experience in IT support or a related technical field.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Good understanding of networking, endpoint management, and device security.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 environments, Atlassian, Box and similar tools.
- Interest in expanding technical knowledge and taking ownership of defined support areas.
- First experience with scripting and automation across tools and services.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid, international team environment (English required; German a plus).
- Able to follow established procedures while identifying opportunities for improvement.
Work Requirements
- Ability to work onsite at the Darmstadt HQ facility (flexible depending on workload).
- Willingness to travel to different locations to assist with site set up.
