Job description

As a 2nd Line Support Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting modern infrastructure technologies within a secure data centre environment. You will act as an escalation point for 1st Line Support and ensure stability across on-premise and cloud-based systems., * Deliver 2nd line technical support across servers, desktops, and core infrastructure.

  • Investigate and resolve escalated incidents and service requests.

  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022).

  • Support and manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.

  • Provide support for Microsoft Azure services, including VMs, networking, and storage.

  • Administer VMware vSphere / ESXi virtual infrastructures.

  • Conduct system monitoring, patching, and general maintenance.

  • Produce documentation and contribute to ongoing process improvements.

  • Collaborate with senior engineers on upgrades, changes, and complex issues.

  • Operate within ITIL-aligned incident, problem, and change management processes.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a 2nd Line Support or Infrastructure Support role.

  • Strong background in Windows Server administration.

  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.

  • Competent in Microsoft Azure environments.

  • Experience with VMware vSphere / ESXi.

  • Understanding of core networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls).

  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.

  • Strong customer-service mindset and attention to detail.

  • Eligible for BPSS/SC Clearance (must have lived in the UK for the last five years).

Desirable:

  • Experience with Veeam Backup & Replication or similar tools.

  • PowerShell scripting or automation experience.

  • Exposure to Office 365 and Intune administration.
