Job description
- Write clean, efficient code in Java, Ruby, or Python to deliver core application functionality
- Leverage CI/CD pipelines using CircleCI or GitHub Actions to streamline deployments
- Manage microservices within Kubernetes and Docker environments to ensure scalability and reliability
- Utilize Dev(Sec)Ops practices to enhance security, integration, and performance
- Automate testing to ensure robust, error-free delivery through unit, integration, and performance tests
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and follow agile development principles, including mobbing, swarming, pairing, refinement, and sprint planning
- Mentor and train junior team members while promoting knowledge-sharing through Lunch and Learn sessions
- Conduct code reviews and ensure best practices are followed across the team
- Support the Lead Developer in technical direction, ensuring smooth execution of project goals

- microservices, We are the UK's leading Digital Solutions Provider seeking an influential Technical Architect specializing in Java, Ruby, and Python development. You will oversee and lead the design, build, and deployment of a cutting-edge Cloud-based platform built on AWS. With a focus on modern tools like Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of a high-impact and long-term Public Sector Programme. This position is flexible with a rate dependent on experience, designed for a duration of three months with potential extensions. It offers remote work across the UK, with travel required once per month to London or Newcastle, starting on January 6th, 2025.
Requirements
- Recent GDS Public Sector project experience
- Strong experience with Java, Ruby, or Python for application code development
- Familiarity with CircleCI or GitHub Actions for CI/CD processes
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Strong knowledge of microservices, Dev(Sec)Ops, and CI/CD principles
- Experience with static analysis, security analysis, and performance environments
- Proven ability to create and run automated tests to validate code changes
- Demonstrated ability to work in agile environments, including participation in sprint planning, retrospectives, and stand-ups
- Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
