Job description

The IT Manager will be responsible for the operational management of all IT systems, services, infrastructure, and security across the organisation. This role ensures the reliability, performance, and compliance of technology systems that support critical 24/7 healthcare operations. The IT Manager provides both strategic and hands-on leadership, overseeing service delivery, cybersecurity, infrastructure, governance, and the coordination of internal and external technical resources. The role and ensures that IT operations align with organisational goals, legal requirements, and industry standards.

Duties;

To Provide Onsite and Remote Support for the following services:

Strategic Planning & IT Governance

  • Support the creation and execution of IT strategy, policies, and long-term roadmaps.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, information governance, and cybersecurity frameworks including DSPT, Cyber Essentials, Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO27001.

  • Oversee risk management, vulnerability management, audit responses, cyber assessments, penetration testing, third-party risk management, and business continuity activities.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor and develop IT staff, ensuring the effective coordination of daily operations.

  • Promote a high-performance culture with strong communication, accountability, and service focus.

  • Provide guidance and escalation support for all technical teams.

IT Operations & Service Delivery

  • Oversee end-to-end IT service delivery, ensuring efficient 1st to 3rd line support within a 24/7/365 healthcare environment.

  • Maintain IT asset lifecycle processes, including acquisition, deployment, decommissioning, secure destruction and record-keeping.

Infrastructure & Network Management

  • Oversee all core infrastructure, on-site and at our 2 data centres.

  • Oversee cloud platforms.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Lead cybersecurity operations in partnership with the external SOC.

  • Manage threat protection technologies, vulnerability management, and backup/disaster recovery solutions.

Systems & Application Management

  • Oversee IT systems including communications platforms, monitoring tools, access control, document workflows, device management and administrative platforms.

  • Ensure vendor integration, compatibility, licensing management, and version control across systems.

Vendor, Contract & Third-Party Management

  • Manage external suppliers, network providers and cybersecurity partners.

  • Oversee contract negotiations, renewals, SLAs, and performance.

  • Act as a key liaison for technical aspects of tenders and service agreements.

Facilities, Safety & Compliance Support

  • Oversee IT-related building systems such as CCTV, access control, alarms, and fire safety systems.

  • Ensure IT considerations are embedded in wider H&S processes, audits, and facilities management.

On-Call & Operational Support

  • Manage an internal on-call rota to support 24/7 operations.

Requirements

Do you have experience in VMware?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Industry certifications desirable: ITIL, CompTIA, CCNA, Microsoft/Azure, VMware, security accreditations.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years in technical IT roles, with management or leadership experience.

  • Strong background across infrastructure, cloud, networking, cybersecurity, and systems administration.

  • Experience in healthcare or regulated environments beneficial.
