Job description
HR Services, with Human Resources & Organisation Development is responsible for managing a range of HR activity and brings together four teams; Recruitment & Resourcing, Employee Lifecycle, Payroll & Pensions, and HR Systems & Data.
Working as a senior member of the HR Systems & Data Team, this role is key to the development and maintenance of HR systems and processes, and the design and production of quality staff data.
Educated to at least degree level, ideally in an HR or IT discipline, and with demonstrable relevant experience, you will have an enthusiasm for systems and technology, and be confident in working with various forms of complex data. You will understand how key management information can be vital to effective service delivery and performance, and effectively use your initiative to drive the development of HR systems and technology in order to achieve organisational goals and compliance.

Lead the development of the SAP HR system, collaborate with HR colleagues and external software consultants, ensuring business requirements are suitably captured and communicated, and working to find, test and deliver system solutions that best meet the needs of the business

Ensure reporting requirements are met for numerous forms of data, preparing reports, designing dashboards and responding to queries

Use creativity and innovation to develop improved, automated forms of data reporting

Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve, develop and capture standard operating procedures which ensures data integrity and governance

Play a leading role in HR systems process improvement activity and to manage various projects to support the work of the HR Services team

Work with other colleagues across the organisation to engage in continuous improvement projects to ensure continued efficient and effective service delivery

Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data held within HR's systems and undertake regular data cleansing exercises

Recommendation of system configuration changes that would result in more effective / efficient operations

Provision of 'helpdesk' support to users of HR's various systems responding to e-mail, telephone and face to face enquires

Support the Head of People Systems and Data Insights in identifying functionality or skills gaps with current HR systems and to make appropriate recommendations

Design and maintain user guides and training materials to ensure users have quick access to reference materials when using HR's systems

Design and delivery of training to users of HR's various systems to ensure users have the necessary skills and understanding to use them effectively

Management of security profiles and user permissions across HR's systems, assessing current configurations to ensure users have the appropriate level of access

Lead on the preparation, submission and communication of data for statistical returns including HESA, ensuring processes are established to collect and test data

Prepare staffing data that supports a number of University wide initiatives, including (but not limited to) Athena Swan

Collaborate with the Head of People Systems and Data Insights in the development and deployment of new functionality and system provision, taking responsibility for testing and implementing specific new features as directed

Support the Head of People Systems and Data Insights in leading on the use and development of new system functionality, including procurement and implementation activity, The role holder will be required to evidence that they can meet the qualities associated with the following behavioural competencies, as detailed within the AUA Competency Framework.

About Us
HR Services incorporates, all aspects of generalist HR and employee relations support to the organisation, payroll and pensions, and learning and development. The service is responsible for supporting the employment of University staff, providing advice and guidance on matters including staff recruitment, contracts of employment, promotion, appraisals, term and conditions, professional development etc.
The objectives of the HR Services team are to:
- Enhance the human resources, organisational capability and performance of the University
- Provide an efficient, accurate and timely service in all aspects of the employment life cycle
- Develop a comprehensive, accurate and flexible HR Information system
- Advise and support staff on employee relations, employment matters, including interpretation and application of University policies and procedures
- Provide administrative, procedural and policy development, and support and advice to University committees
- Ensure compliance with legal and policy obligations
HR Services is responsible for SAP, the University's HR Information system for managing and processing all staff related information. We also provide a payroll and pension service to the University and administer the University Pensions scheme. The University
Requirements
- Educated to degree standard or equivalent experience
- Experience of utilising a range of IT systems to an advanced level, including knowledge of activities such as system security, data cleansing, system auditing and control procedures
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience of providing end user support and troubleshooting issues to find solutions
- Experience of designing training materials and delivering end user training
- A proactive approach to work, with the ability to generate ideas and translate them into practical outcomes/solutions
- Analytical problem solver with a keen eye for detail, anomalies, and trends
- Experience of managing and leading projects
- Experience of process improvement methodology
- Experience of preparing and analysing complex management information reports
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work and promote collaboration in a team environment
