IT Engineer

We are recruiting for an IT Development Engineer (Software) to join a well-established manufacturing organisation with a strong focus on systems integration, automation and operational efficiency.

This is a hands-on role covering the full software development lifecycle, working closely with production, engineering and IT teams to support and enhance factory systems.

The Role

You'll be involved in the design, development and ongoing support of software solutions used within a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities will include:

• Designing, developing and implementing software and factory systems
• Working across the full development lifecycle: analysis, build, testing and deployment
• Supporting and maintaining existing systems used across manufacturing operations
• Providing higher-level support for internally developed applications and systems
• Supporting the transition of routine support tasks to first-line IT and engineering teams
• Contributing to IT and cross-functional improvement projects
• Assisting with documentation, system knowledge sharing and user training
• Supporting and mentoring junior team members or apprentices when required

Do you have experience in Visual Basic?, To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:

• A strong understanding of software development principles
• Experience developing or supporting business-critical systems
• An interest in manufacturing processes and operational systems
• Basic knowledge of servers or networking
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills and a collaborative approach

Technical Skills

Essential:

• Software development or application support experience
• Knowledge of VB.NET or PHP

Desirable:

• Experience with CodeIgniter 4
• MySQL / PHPMyAdmin
• Helpdesk systems and call logging
• Around 2 years' experience in an IT or development role, * Degree-level qualification in Software Development or a related discipline (essential)
