Job description
You will own, implement, and continuously improve a secure, reliable, and highly efficient technology environment that underpins daily operations, supports business growth, and guarantees seamless delivery of all company activities across two locations.
This role is responsible for the entire IT ecosystem: infrastructure, cyber security, systems, support, and forward planning, ensuring technology operates at an exceptional standard and is never a blocker to the business. You will lead a small IT team while remaining deeply hands-on, creating a proactive IT function that anticipates challenges, prevents issues before they arise, and delivers outstanding support across the organisation.
This role offers full ownership of the IT environment, the opportunity to significantly elevate cyber security maturity, and the ability to shape how technology enables the business at a strategic and operational level. Lead, plan, and deliver IT projects aligned with business priorities in collaboration with business stakeholders and the Project Manager.

Proactively manage all aspects of IT operations across two offices and hybrid users, maintaining a visible on-site presence.

Guarantee exceptional IT readiness and support for all business activities, including time-critical operational and event requirements.

Lead and manage a small IT team, setting high standards for service delivery, accountability, and performance.

Maintain full ownership of all IT systems, assets, networks, SaaS platforms, and limited on-premise infrastructure.

Oversee helpdesk operations, troubleshooting, user support, system backups, archiving, and disaster recovery processes.

Implement, maintain, and continuously improve IT security policies, procedures, access controls, and device management.

Own and optimise the Google Workspace environment, including user lifecycle, permissions, security configuration, and data governance.

Design and maintain efficient helpdesk and support processes with measurable service levels.

Ensure all systems are well documented, resilient, and scalable.

Work directly with software vendors and partners to ensure high-quality service and system performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an IT Manager or senior IT lead owning a full technology environment.
- Strong, demonstrable experience in cybersecurity, audits, IT policies, and risk prevention.
- Hands-on experience managing Google Workspace and a predominantly SaaS-based IT estate.
- Experience managing IT across multiple locations with hybrid users.
- Experience leading and developing a small IT or support team.
- Strong troubleshooting capability across devices, networks, users, and cloud systems.
- Experience implementing backups, disaster recovery, and system resilience.
- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational delivery (70/30 split).
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, operational environments where technology reliability is critical.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to support non-technical teams clearly and effectively.
- High attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Desirable
- Experience in preparing organisations for Cyber Essentials or similar security frameworks.
- Experience working in environments with operational, event-based, or time-critical activities.
- Experience in improving or maturing an IT function from moderate to high maturity.
