Job description

Reporting to the Data Warehouse Team Lead you will, design, develop and enhance Datawarehouse and Securitisation databases and reports to ensure that they can make maximum use of data and reporting. You design and develop the databases and ETL processes for optimum performance as well as developing BI Output.

You will also:

Design, develop, test, implement and maintain the databases using the Microsoft BI Stack

  • Develop BI Report, Models and Cubes as required using appropriate tool (SSRS, SSAS, Power BI)
  • Work with Team Lead and MI Manager to ensure BI Reporting requirements support self-service BI
  • Provide development and support for ongoing projects and existing solutions
  • Support regular reporting processes
  • Write Business and Technical Specification documents
  • Support testing of releases
  • Investigate, document and resolve as assigned production problems
  • Provide out of hours cover as required

Requirements

To be successful as our BI Engineer it would be ideal if you hold a degree (or equivalent) within a technical or numerate discipline. It is essential that you have the following skills and competencies

Highly numerate with advanced Excel skills

  • Knowledge of SQL with SQL Development experience
  • BI Reporting experience
  • Data focussed with a keen eye for spotting data trends, anomalies and quality
  • Have strong communication skills - you'll be required to interact across the business

In addition it would ideal if you have knowledge of VBA, VBScript or Python and Microsoft SQL Server - Advanced TSQL. Experience in Report development using SSRS and Power BI as well as designing and developing cubes using SSAS.

Previous experience within the financial service sector would be beneficial as would development experience in Azure.
