Job description

Support the migration of core finance from SAP R/3 to SAP S/4HANA. The role performs detailed analysis, mapping, reconciliation, and validation activities to ensure finance processes, data, and reporting remain correct and reliable throughout the transition. All work will be directed by the Data Architects, who set priorities, technical direction, and standards., 1. Analyse Current-State Data, Processes, and Reporting

Understand how finance data currently flows through SAP R/3 and SAP CMS (contract accounting).

Document existing report logic, data dependencies, and cross-system integrations.

Identify where processes differ or have shared dependencies.

  1. Support Future-State S/4HANA Alignment

Review S/4 design materials, led by the Data Architects.

Identify changes in data structures, posting logic, and reporting models.

Highlight risks, gaps, or areas that require further clarification or design work.

  1. Perform Data Mapping

Translate R/3 finance data structures into their S/4 equivalents.

Follow mapping frameworks and principles defined by the Data Architects.

Validate mapping decisions with finance, reporting, and technical teams.

  1. Conduct Data Analysis and Reconciliation

Extract and reconcile datasets to verify migration accuracy.

Compare R/3 trial balances, subledger values, and reporting outputs against S/4 results.

Produce clear reconciliation summaries explaining any differences.

  1. Catalogue and Validate Finance Reports

Build an inventory of current finance and MI reports.

Determine which reports will remain valid, which need redesign, and which can be retired.

Validate report outputs after migration to ensure they match expected results.

  1. Support Testing Activities

Prepare expected results for test scenarios involving finance postings and reporting.

Validate test outputs and log discrepancies with clear evidence.

Work with the Data Architects and technical teams to identify the root cause of issues.

  1. Produce Structured Documentation

Maintain clear mapping documents, impact analysis, reconciliation packs, and data dictionaries.

Ensure documentation meets architectural standards for traceability and clarity.

Keep all artefacts updated as designs and decisions evolve.

  1. Work Collaboratively Across Teams

Engage with Finance, Reporting/MI, IBM, and IT teams as required by the Data Architects.

Communicate findings in clear and concise language.

Escalate blockers or risks promptly to the Data Architects or workstream leads.

  1. Support Cutover and Early Life Activities

Assist with data readiness checks and reporting validation tasks during cutover.

Perform post-go-live comparisons to ensure data accuracy and reporting stability.

Help diagnose and resolve data or reporting issues quickly.
