Job description

We are seeking an experienced 2nd Line Support Engineer to join our client's established Service Desk. This role requires a confident and capable technical professional who can take ownership of complex issues, support critical systems, and deliver a high standard of service across a varied client base.

You will work alongside skilled engineers in a collaborative environment that values technical quality, accountability, and continuous improvement. This opportunity is suited to someone already operating comfortably at 2nd Line level who is looking for stability, technical depth, and long term progression.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Provide expert 2nd line technical support, managing escalated incidents and service requests end to end
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, infrastructure, and networking issues
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, and core IT services
  • Handle advanced troubleshooting across user, device, and server environments
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement long term solutions to recurring issues
  • Collaborate with 1st and 3rd line engineers to ensure efficient service delivery and knowledge sharing
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and ensure tickets meet SLA and quality standards
  • Support patching, upgrades, and maintenance across supported environments
  • Contribute to continuous service improvement and technical best practice

Requirements

Do you have experience in VPN?, * Proven commercial experience operating in a 2nd Line Support role within a Service Desk environment

  • Strong technical troubleshooting ability across Windows desktop and server platforms
  • Hands-on experience supporting Microsoft 365, including Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, and Intune
  • Strong working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and identity management
  • Solid networking knowledge, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, firewalls, and VPN connectivity
  • Experience working within SLA driven environments and managing ticket queues effectively
  • Clear and professional communication skills with a strong customer focus
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and take ownership of technical issues
  • Desirable. Microsoft or relevant technical certifications
