Job description

We are recruiting for an experienced HSQE Manager to join a leading contractor delivering works on the prestigious High Speed 2 (HS2) programme in Birmingham.

This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) compliance across site operations. You will work closely with the Project Manager and site teams to drive a proactive safety culture and ensure full compliance with statutory legislation and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise and support managers in discharging their statutory Health & Safety responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with company, client and statutory HSEQ requirements
  • Implement approved HSEQ standards, specifications and procedures
  • Review and maintain project HSEQ documentation to ensure it remains current and compliant
  • Support the preparation of Risk Assessments, Method Statements and procedures
  • Conduct recorded site inspections and quality (ITP) inspections
  • Manage accident and incident investigations, producing reports and corrective action plans
  • Monitor and close out corrective and preventive actions effectively
  • Develop, implement and monitor Health & Safety and Environmental Plans
  • Deliver H&S awareness and site-level training to employees and subcontractors
  • Attend management and H&S meetings, reporting performance to senior stakeholders
  • Proactively promote a positive and collaborative safety culture on site

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience in an HSEQ role within construction/infrastructure
  • NEBOSH or NVQ in Occupational Health & Safety - Essential
  • ISO 45001:2018 - Essential
  • ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 14001:2015 - Desirable
  • Experience in accident investigation - Essential
  • Experience in steel erection and façades - Advantageous
