Job description
This is a hands-on IT support role within a fast-growing, highly technical organisation operating at the cutting edge of science and engineering. You'll play a key part in keeping people productive by making sure their tools, systems, and devices work, whether they're in the office or working remotely.
You'll be highly visible across the business, supporting a smart, demanding user base and working closely with an IT Manager and external support partners. If you enjoy variety, ownership, and seeing issues through to completion, this role will suit you well.
What You'll Be Doing
- Preparing devices, access, and core systems for new users
- 1st-2nd Line technical support for colleagues, diagnosing issues across mixed operating systems and resolving them efficiently
- Keeping office and remote-working technology running smoothly, from video calls to shared resources
- Playing an active role in keeping systems and users safe by supporting security processes and responding when things don't look right
- Partnering with the IT Manager to refine how IT services are delivered and supported
- Taking part in refresh cycles and improvement work across devices, offices, connectivity, and resilience
- Support with project work
Requirements
Do you have experience in Linux?, * Previous experience in an IT support, service desk, or technician role
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows and Linux
- Confident supporting both technical and non-technical users
- Experience working with a ticketing system and managing issues through to resolution
- Comfortable juggling priorities and spotting problems before they escalate
- Clear communicator who can document solutions and processes effectively
