Job description

As a Researcher Bioinformatics at Genetwister, you will play a key role in turning large-scale plant genome data into biological insight that directly supports data-driven plant breeding. You will be part of the Bioinformatics team and contribute to cutting-edge research projects using state-of-the-art genomic technologies. In this role, you will focus on the analysis and implementation of bioinformatics pipelines for data generated by a variety of high-throughput sequencing platforms. Your work will support genome analysis, marker discovery and the assembly and annotation of plant genomes and pangenomes. You are expected to work with a high level of independence and scientific responsibility and contribute to decisions on the application and adaptation of bioinformatics tools within projects. Interpreting results and translating them into meaningful biological conclusions is a central part of your work. You are a specialist in your field whose expertise contributes to multidisciplinary projects and supports the delivery of high-quality results for our customers..

Requirements

Do you have a Master's degree?, * M.Sc. or PhD degree in (Plant) Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or a related field.

  • At least three years post-M.Sc. work experience with NGS data, genome assembly & annotation, pangenomics and comparative genomics, preferably in plants.
  • Able to translate complex data analyses into clear, visually compelling figures that facilitate biological interpretation and insight.
  • Proficient in python, R or other relevant programming language, with a good grasp of version control systems (git).
  • Previous work experience in industry is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Highly accurate and well-organized.
  • Fluent in English.
  • A highly motivated individual who seeks high quality standards in his/her professional employment and values transparency and accountability.
  • Strong team player, efficiently working and sharing knowledge in multidisciplinary project teams.
