Job description
We are seeking a Technical Support Officer sitting within the Support and Performance Team, Place Directorate. The main purpose of the role is to support Thurrock Council's Place service via our Support and Performance Services Department. Main Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and technical support across Development Management, Building Control and Land Charges ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and council procedures.
- Oversee the registration, validation, and digital management of planning and building control applications, ensuring compliance with national and local requirements.
- Provide first-line support (supervision) and guidance to team members, including training on systems, procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Monitor team performance and contribute to service improvement by maintaining accurate records, tracking KPIs, and reporting outcomes.
- Liaise with internal departments, external stakeholders, and the public to resolve enquiries and ensure high-quality customer service.
- Support the maintenance of accurate records and filing systems (both paper and digital), including data input and extraction using various IT systems.
- Represent the team at meetings and briefings, providing feedback and ensuring actions are followed up appropriately.
