Job description

This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting the organisation's core software applications, databases, backend services, and operational automation tools. Working closely with internal departments across Finance, Sales, Production, Warehouse, and Distribution, the role ensures that business systems are efficient, reliable, and tailored to departmental needs. The position involves hands on SQL development, application development using .NET technologies, system integrations, data analysis, and the deployment of lightweight automation devices such as Raspberry Pi systems., * Develop SQL queries, reports, and system integrations using SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, and Visual Studio.

  • Design, build, and maintain database structures including tables, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Perform data analysis and manage routine data imports, exports, transformations, and quality assurance.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications using .NET, VB, C#, JavaScript, SQL, IIS, API development, and Visual Studio.
  • Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and system to system integrations to support business processes.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Raspberry Pi devices for monitoring, data capture, and automation tasks.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments to support core workflows across Finance, Sales, Production, Warehouse, and Distribution.

Requirements

  • Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in software development, database management, or related technical areas. Desirable

  • Certifications in SQL Server, .NET development, or related technologies.

  • Training or certification in data analysis or API development.

  • Experience or training with embedded systems such as Raspberry Pi.

Experience Essential

  • Proven experience in developing SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database structures.

  • Hands on experience using SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, and Visual Studio for development and reporting.

  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software using .NET, VB, C#, JavaScript, SQL, and IIS.

  • Experience building and maintaining backend services and API integrations.

  • Experience performing data analysis, data cleansing, imports, exports, and quality checks.

  • Experience working collaboratively with departments such as Finance, Sales, Production, Warehouse, and Distribution to support or improve business workflows.

  • Experience installing or configuring Raspberry Pi or similar embedded devices. Desirable

  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or operational business environments.

  • Experience supporting process automation or industrial data capture systems.

  • Experience with version control (e.g., Git).

Knowledge Essential

  • Strong understanding of relational database design, SQL optimisation, and reporting tools.

  • Knowledge of software development best practices, versioning, and deployment pipelines.

  • Understanding of RESTful APIs, backend services, and system integrations.

  • Good understanding of data structures, data quality principles, and ETL processes. Desirable

  • Knowledge of operational workflows within supply chain driven environments.

  • Understanding of lightweight automation technologies or IoT concepts.
