Job description
Document Controller urgently rerquired for a housing developer and partnerships contractor based near Orpington.
With multiple live developments and a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, our client is looking for an organised and detail-driven Document Controller to support the technical and construction teams.
The Role
As a Document Controller, you will be responsible for managing, tracking, and maintaining all project documentation across our developments. You will ensure that accurate, up-to-date information is distributed internally and externally, supporting smooth project delivery from planning through to completion.
This is a key role within the business, working closely with the Technical, Commercial and Construction as well as external consultants and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain document control systems for live housing developments
- Manage incoming and outgoing drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence
- Ensure all documentation is correctly version-controlled and stored
- Distribute updated drawings and documents to relevant stakeholders
- Maintain registers for drawings, RFIs, technical submissions, and approvals
- Liaise with architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors
- Support the Technical team with planning and building regulation submissions
- Archive completed project documentation in line with company procedures
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Document Controller role (construction or property sector preferred)
- Experience working on residential or housing developments is advantageous
- Strong knowledge of document management systems (e.g., Viewpoint, Asite, Aconex, 4Projects, SharePoint)
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confident communicator with the ability to liaise across multiple departments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Desirable
- Experience working with technical and architectural drawings
- Knowledge of planning and building regulations documentation
- Understanding of ISO procedures or quality management systems
