Job description
Data sits at the heart of how a school like Benenden operates. From the census and examination results to timetabling, reporting, and the information parents rely on every day, the accuracy and accessibility of our school data shapes decisions at every level., We're looking for an experienced MIS professional to take ownership of iSAMS, our primary Management Information System, and the data processes that run through it. This is a specialist role with genuine scope and responsibility: you'll manage the full academic calendar cycle within iSAMS, take sole charge of the school census, and act as the key link between the IT team and the academic, pastoral, and administrative communities we serve.
If you know your way around a school MIS, care deeply about data quality, and want a role where your expertise genuinely matters, we'd like to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Owning the day-to-day administration and configuration of iSAMS, including student and staff records, timetables, gradebooks, report files, and user access
- Taking primary responsibility for the school census, managing the process from data gathering through to statutory submission
- Supporting the Exams Officer with results processing and import into iSAMS, and ensuring results are published accurately through My School Portal
- Managing the annual system rollover and all key academic milestones throughout the year
- Ensuring the accuracy of the iSAMS data that feeds into our parent-facing portal and Power BI dashboards
- Delivering training and support to staff across the school, helping colleagues use iSAMS confidently and effectively
- Building strong working relationships with academic and administrative teams, acting as a trusted point of expertise
Requirements
Do you have experience in Power BI?, You don't need to have followed a conventional IT career path to thrive in this role. What matters most is that you bring solid MIS experience, a meticulous approach to data, and the kind of calm, organised mindset that holds up under the pressures of results day and census deadlines.
You should have most or all of the following:
- Proven experience managing a school MIS at administrator level, ideally iSAMS
- The ability to manipulate, interrogate, and interpret data accurately and with confidence
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with complex data sets
- Direct experience with the school census process and statutory reporting obligations
- Experience processing examination results data within a school MIS
- A working knowledge of GDPR as it applies to student and staff records
- The ability to explain data and systems clearly to colleagues who aren't technically minded
- The confidence to manage your own workload independently through the peaks and troughs of the academic year
Experience with My School Portal and Power BI would be an advantage, though not essential. If your MIS background comes from outside iSAMS, we'd still encourage you to apply, the principles transfer, and we'll support you in getting up to speed.
Benefits & conditions
The role is term time plus 20 days, which offers a genuine work-life balance alongside a competitive pro-rata salary. Staff also benefit from free meals on duty, use of our fitness centre and swimming pool, and a fee remission scheme for daughters accepted into the school.
