Job description
The Application Support Analyst will, in liaison with the IT Business Analyst and Software Developers, provide an IT technical consultancy and support service to internal and external clients with IT projects including analysis, technical support and training.
The hours
The role holder will be required to work 35 hours per week worked Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 6pm. Given the nature of the role there will be a requirement to work outside of these hours with colleges to provide an 'on call' service.
The Requirements
The role holder will be required to:
- Support, troubleshoot and maintain business applications.
- Hold responsibility for providing day-to-day support for in-house bespoke applications as well as assisting with the implementation of new functionality.
- Liaise with internal development teams regarding bug fixes and enhancements.
- Provide helpdesk application support.
- Deliver training following system changes and upgrades to ensure end users are proficient with the software and using new functionality/shortcuts.
Requirements
This is an interesting and diverse role and we are looking for someone with all or at least some of the following areas of expertise:
- An Application Support Analyst, preferably with exposure to Microsoft technologies, applications and databases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Personable and able to confidently communicate with a technical and non-technical audience.
- Able to build and maintain relationships.
- Experience working in a Support and/or Business Analysis type environment
- Ability to manage expectations and control change in IT projects environment
- Ability to change priorities at short notice, manage impact and customer expectations
- Experience of documenting and analysing applications and solutions
- Strong technical background
- Microsoft SQL Server experience (desirable)
- The ability to demonstrate customer led thinking.
- Proactive approach to work and analytical problem solving skills.
- Effective time management to be able to multi-task, prioritise to meet varying tasks and deadlines and delegate.
- Self-motivated and able to work under pressure with a high level of responsibility.
