Be seen as the technical design authority on IBM Server, Storage Products and associated operating systems / software
Lead Implementation of technical design
Lead the Professional Services element with Pre Sales colleagues
Participate and validate in the creation of technical documents to support bid responses (RFI, RFP,ITT)
Knowledge sharing of latest industry trends and product updates / Roadmaps
Relationships
Develop and Maintain open, honest peer relationships with Pre Sales Technical consultants.
Develop and Maintain open, honest relationships with Customers, Partners and colleagues., The primary purpose of the Professional Services Consultant role is to provide technical delivery. Technical assurance may also be required during opportunities to their Pre-Sales and Sales teams. This particular role will be suitable for candidates who have worked with the IBM Server and Storage portfolio, specifically around IBM I and External Storage. In addition to this experience, other IBM Hardware and Software product sets, including but not restricted to, BladeCenter, DS3/4/5/8xxx, and V7000 technologies would be beneficial.
The ideal candidate would be expected to work proactively and deliver expert technical assistance in design and delivery of their infrastructure to the company's clients; this is to enable a confident operation and rapid return on infrastructure investment.
Open and honest relationships are fundamental to our client and key to their continued growth. The ideal candidate needs to be able to develop and maintain excellent relationships both internally within the company's Technical community and colleagues from other functional roles but also externally with their Partners and customers for whom our client are seen as a Technical Authority.
Requirements
Knowledge and working experience of associated software such as BRMS, High Availability products (such as MIMIX, iCluster, etc.) and Business Continuity concepts.
Desirable- Awareness of IBM, AIX, System x, VMware, IBM Director, TSM, and Non-IBM ICT industry related products.
Current IBM certifications.
Consultancy Training.
Experience-
Essential - Previous experience in a Customer Facing role at either IBM or an IBM Business Partner. Current industry and competitor knowledge. Proven ability to work remotely in virtual teams with Account Managers, Pre Sales and all support functions. Solid experience in developing and delivering both technical and non-technical presentations up to and including CxO level.
Desirable - Solid experience within Enterprise verticals such as R&E, Local Government, Utilities and Financial Services
Skills and Ability -
Essential - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent consultancy skills.
The ability to seek to understand customer issues and requirements and ensure solutions address these.
Problem Solving and troubleshooting.
Personal Qualities -
Essential - Good team player. Strong self-motivation, able to work on own initiative
Must be willing to be in the office when requested.
Must be willing to stay away from home as and when needed. The role may include occasional international travel.
Full and current driving licence.
