Job description

TechNET has partnered with a well-established organisation in the timber / distribution space (c.300 employees) to hire a Strategic IT Manager to lead and modernise IT across 5 UK sites. This is a broad, high-impact role combining hands-on ownership of the IT estate with strategic planning and a major BizTrack (Epicor) ERP upgrade project. The opportunity You'll take end-to-end responsibility for IT, strengthening resilience and security while improving operational efficiency through better systems, reporting and process optimisation. You'll also play a key role in shaping a 3-5 year IT roadmap aligned to business growth and performance., * Lead and manage all IT across 5 UK sites

  • Own and optimise the ERP platform (BizTrack / BosTrak)
  • Lead the ERP upgrade programme (project ownership, stakeholder management, vendor coordination)
  • Ensure business continuity, system reliability, and robust cyber security
  • Maintain networks, servers, hardware and site connectivity
  • Develop reporting and management dashboards
  • Improve systems supporting stock, logistics and operational workflows
  • Manage IT suppliers and third-party providers
  • Control IT budget, user support and staff training
  • Define and deliver a 3-5 year IT strategy

Requirements

  • ERP management within a distribution / stock-led environment
  • ERP implementation and/or upgrade delivery experience
  • Multi-site IT ownership (sites, users, connectivity, support model)
  • Infrastructure and network oversight
  • Database knowledge (SQL preferred)
  • Cyber security management and compliance focus
  • Strong project management capability
  • Exposure to E-Commerce environments

Desirable

  • Experience in timber / builders merchant / distribution / manufacturing
  • Warehouse scanning systems and logistics integration
  • Cloud migration experience

Benefits & conditions

  • Based in Maldon, Essex (with travel to other UK sites as required)
  • On-site, 5 days per week (this is a visible, business-facing role)
