Job description

Responsible for supporting, shaping and delivering the organisation's end-to-end Business Change strategy. Working closely with Project Managers and delivery teams, ensuring organisational readiness, adoption, and benefits realisation throughout the project lifecycle. Acts as an intelligent customer for business change activities delivered by digital partners and system integrators, ensuring alignment with governance, change frameworks, and strategic objectives. Contribute to the continuous improvement of Business Change practices, supporting capability development and mentoring junior team members. Oversee external Business Change resources and costs across multiple projects, while managing business benefits and their associated KPIs.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Business Change Lead will include:

  • Lead and coordinate business change workstreams across digital projects, ensuring all activities align with programme milestones, governance requirements, and organisational readiness.
  • Produce essential business change artefacts, including impact assessments, stakeholder engagement plans, communication strategies, and training approaches.
  • Ensure digital business cases define clear and measurable benefits and KPIs, establishing frameworks for ongoing tracking and benefits realisation.
  • Monitor adoption, value delivery, and overall progress, recommending corrective actions when needed to maintain expected outcomes.
  • Provide oversight and assurance of business change deliverables produced by delivery partners and system integrators, challenging approaches to ensure alignment with standards.
  • Report business change progress through established governance forums while maintaining visibility of key risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Manage business change resources across multiple projects and oversee change-related budgets alongside Project Managers, ensuring alignment with approved business cases.
  • Build strong relationships across business functions to drive engagement, readiness, and adoption, influencing senior stakeholders to champion change initiatives.
  • Mentor junior team members and promote knowledge sharing across the function.

Requirements

Alongside a commitment to our values of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, and Inclusiveness, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following:

  • Extensive experience delivering and managing business change across multiple projects within complex programme or portfolio environments.
  • Proven ability to design, plan, and implement structured change strategies that drive adoption and organisational readiness.
  • Strong capability to align change activities with governance requirements, delivery timelines, and wider business objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience providing oversight of partner-delivered change activity, ensuring standards and outcomes are met.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships at all organisational levels.
  • Professional qualification or membership in Change Management (e.g., Prosci, APMG, CMI, ACPM) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong understanding of digital and IT-enabled transformation programmes and how they impact people, processes, and operating models is desirable
  • Experience working within large-scale infrastructure, regulated environments, or programmes with stringent governance requirements is desirable
  • Familiarity with benefits-management frameworks and methods for defining, tracking, and realising measurable value is desirable
  • Reside locally to London or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.
