Job description

The role: You will support the Council in meeting its statutory information governance obligations. Acting as a key point of contact, you will provide advice, manage information requests, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation including GDPR and FOI., * Manage and respond to FOI, EIR and Subject Access Requests within statutory timescales

  • Provide guidance on data protection and information governance matters
  • Record, assess and support investigation of data security incidents
  • Maintain and update internal information governance systems and records
  • Liaise with internal departments and escalate complex cases where required
  • Support Data Protection Impact Assessments and data sharing agreements
  • Assist with training delivery and awareness across the organisation
  • Engage with external bodies including ICO where appropriate

Requirements

  • Experience within information governance, data protection or similar environment
  • Strong understanding of GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and FOI legislation
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Experience managing information requests within strict deadlines
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal
  • Good IT skills and ability to manage databases
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, * Knowledge of GDPR, FOI Act and information governance frameworks
  • Experience handling complex data requests or governance processes
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex information
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload
  • Confident communicating with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience working with confidential data
  • Minimum 2 A levels in a relevant subject or 3+ years' relevant experience
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
