Job description
As a Business Application Engineer, you will join an Agile Squad of 10 colleagues: a Product Owner, a Solution Architect and around eight engineers. Together, you are responsible for a diverse set of business applications within the Services & Industry domain. The culture is open, friendly and collaborative - with plenty of freedom to take initiative and shape your own development.
Your week is varied. You start with the daily stand-up, align with internal stakeholders on their needs and work on solutions that directly support our operations. You act as the bridge between business and IT: technical enough to understand complex applications, communicative enough to guide users through changes.
In this role, you will:
- Design, build, and maintain complex business applications that directly support our operations.
- Work on Industry 4.0 solutions such as smart mobility, shopfloor digitalisation and industrial networks.
- Develop API integrations between various systems and applications.
- Play an active role in introducing RPA (UiPath) within our organization.
- Work with a modern tech stack including Linux, Windows, PostgreSQL, Mendix (preferred) and various integration tools.
- Contribute to new features, improvements and the technical roadmap of our applications.
- Collaborate closely with other squads and international Thales teams to drive continuous improvement.
You don't need to know everything already, what matters most is your curiosity, your ability to learn quickly and your motivation to dive into new technologies. In this squad, you'll have the space to grow into a broad generalist who takes on increasing responsibility.
Requirements
- Have a technical background and operate at HBO level.
- Enjoy solving complex technical challenges and understanding how applications work under the hood.
- Are interested in Industry 4.0, industrial networks and automation.
- Want to actively contribute to building our new RPA capabilities with UiPath.
- Have affinity with integrations, APIs and preferably Mendix.
- Communicate well with internal customers and don't speak only "tech".
- Can work independently while also enjoying teamwork.
Benefits & conditions
- A challenging job in a great team within our high-tech, innovative work environment. Includes the freedom for initiative and good ideas.
- Room for personal and professional growth within our organisation, for example in regards to technical, commercial or international skills.
- Valuable international collaboration with coworkers from 68 different countries around the globe.
- A comfortable work space in a modern environment, with a focus on flexibility and the right work life balance.
- You can usually work where and when you want to be able to do your work as well and efficiently as possible. Within Thales we implement hybrid working, where you can, for example, work from home two days a week if your role allows it.
- A good salary, fitting travel allowance, and the ability to personalise your employment conditions: for instance, you can trade days off for internet costs, our bicycle plan, company fitness and relocation costs.
- 40 days off per year (PTO)
