Job description

This team is responsible for building a modern, scalable platform that transforms large volumes of proprietary data into meaningful insights, advanced analytics, and AI-driven products. If you enjoy working on complex data challenges and want to help build systems that power real product features - not just internal reporting - this role offers the chance to make a proper impact in a scaling global tech company. The Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in designing and developing reliable data pipelines and services that support business intelligence, analytics, and next-generation AI capabilities. The environment is cloud-native, collaborative, and focused on building production-ready data products that can scale with the organisation's growth. This is an opportunity to work closely with engineers, product teams, and data specialists - along with the support of an expert leadership team, to deliver a high-quality data platform used across multiple products and services. What you'll be doing

  • The Data Engineer will design and develop data APIs, semantic layers, and curated datasets that enable analytics, reporting, and AI applications
  • You'll build and maintain scalable data pipelines that support both internal insights and customer-facing product capabilities
  • You'll work closely with Product Managers and engineering teams to turn business requirements into reliable, scalable data solutions
  • Structure and model complex engineering and simulation data for analytics, machine learning, and product integrations
  • Collaborate with data, AI, BI, and software engineering teams to deliver production-grade data capabilities
  • Partner with QA and business stakeholders to ensure data solutions are well-tested, reliable, and aligned with real user needs
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps practices supporting data services
  • Maintain high standards of data quality, integrity, and performance across pipelines and platforms
  • Evaluate and introduce new tools, frameworks, and architectural approaches to improve the platform over time.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience in data engineering or backend software engineering
  • Experience working with modern cloud data ecosystems (AWS preferred)
  • Practical experience with data orchestration and ETL/ELT tooling such as Airflow, dbt, Airbyte, Temporal, Fivetran, or similar
  • Solid understanding of data quality practices, including validation, testing, and monitoring of pipelines
  • Strong experience in data warehouse design and modern data architecture patterns (e.g. Medallion, Data Mesh, or similar)
  • High proficiency with Python and SQL
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across both technical and non-technical teams
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail

Nice to have

  • Experience building data products or customer-facing analytics platforms
  • Exposure to AI/ML pipelines, MLOps, or emerging GenAI / LLMOps workflows

Who are we?

Muse Group began life as Ultimate Guitar, the largest online global community of musicians. Eugeny Naidenov founded Ultimate Guitar in 1998, with a dream to make it easy for guitarists to play songs by Guns ‘N’ Roses and his other favorite rockers. From there, the site grew from a plucky, tab-sharing trailblazer into a global leader of online music publishing.

In 2017, Ultimate Guitar acquired MuseScore, expanding its reach into sheet music. Muse Group has only continued to grow from there — and now includes Audacity, StaffPad and many more.

In 2023, Muse Group acquired Hal Leonard, the legendary global sheet music publishers, adding an unparalleled music catalog and educational expertise to the team.

Today, we are an international, visionary team of creatives, music lovers and audio obsessives, developing products we could not live without.
