Job description

You'll play a vital role in keeping our endpoint estate secure, reliable and fit for purpose, supporting services that make a real difference to local people.

This is a rewarding role where your technical expertise helps protect business critical systems and enables colleagues across the council to do their jobs effectively.

You'll work in line with our values of being dedicated, respectful and collaborative as we deliver over 200 services for the city.

This is a Site-Based role, and you'll be expected to work from the designated workplace.

  • Providing expert third line support for endpoint users across Milton Keynes City Council.
  • Taking ownership of complex technical issues escalated from first and second line colleagues.
  • Working closely with other Information and Communications Technology teams, council services, suppliers and partners.
  • Planning and delivering endpoint related project work, including upgrades and maintenance activities.
  • Ensuring devices comply with operating system, BIOS and application updates and security requirements.
  • Managing endpoint lifecycles, including imaging, application packaging, deployment and patching.
  • Monitoring device health and performance and resolving issues proactively.
  • Creating and maintaining clear endpoint documentation and contributing to council policies and practices.

Requirements

  • A levels, NVQ Level 3, BTEC or an equivalent qualification in Information and Communications Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • In depth practical and theoretical knowledge of endpoint engineering, including Windows client architecture, identity and access management, networking and security.
  • Significant experience in a technical role within a medium to large organisation.
  • Experience planning and delivering medium sized technical projects.
  • Proven experience supporting endpoint management tools and large scale deployments.
  • The ability to explain technical information clearly to non technical audiences.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and ownership of issues.
  • Experience supporting and mentoring colleagues.

Our roles are either designated 'site based' or 'home based'. 'Site based' roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst 'home based' roles are based at home four days a week.
