Interim IT Support Specialist

About the Role We are seeking a highly capable Interim IT Support Specialist to provide immediate support across a complex, hybrid IT environment. This is a hands-on contract role requiring a strong 2nd/3rd line engineer who can quickly embed into the team and add value from day one. You will play a key role in stabilising and supporting the IT estate, resolving escalated technical issues, and contributing to ongoing infrastructure and cyber security improvements. This is a fast-paced environment where your ability to prioritise, troubleshoot and deliver will be critical. Key Responsibilities * Provide 2nd and 3rd line support across infrastructure, systems, and end-user environments * Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues, driving resolution with minimal supervision * Administer and support Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Entra ID) * Support Active Directory, Group Policy, and core Windows Server environments * Work across a hybrid

infrastructure (on-premise and cloud) * Respond to and manage cyber security incidents, alerts and vulnerabilities * Support patching, remediation and security hardening activities * Troubleshoot networking issues (VPNs, firewalls, connectivity) * Support endpoint management tools (Intune, SCCM or equivalent) * Collaborate with internal teams and third-party providers * Contribute to ongoing IT projects, upgrades and improvement initiatives About You * Proven experience operating at 2nd/3rd line level within complex environments * Strong hands-on expertise across Microsoft 365, Azure / Entra ID and Windows Server * Comfortable working in fast-moving contract environments, able to pick things up quickly * Experience handling major incidents and escalations * Solid understanding of cyber security principles and operational response * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability across infrastructure and user environments * Able to work independently while integrating effectively with an existing team Contract Details * Immediate start preferred * Contract position (initial term with potential extension) * Day rate dependent on experience * Hybrid working (on-site presence required as needed) Why This Role * Opportunity to make an immediate impact in a business-critical IT environment * Broad exposure across infrastructure, cloud and security * Varied role combining BAU support and project delivery * Ideal for contractors who enjoy hands-on technical work and problem-solving
