Job description
We are seeking a hands-on Network Engineer to support a large-scale switch and wireless refresh project across North America. This role is hyper-focused on Cisco switching and Aruba wireless, with responsibilities spanning design review, staging/configuration, and weekend implementations. The engineer will work closely with a Project Manager, local rack-and-stack resources, and vendors (including AT&T) to technically lead switch refresh activities from end to end., * Review and validate network designs and drafts to ensure alignment with published standards and translate them into build materials and bills of materials (BOMs)
- Stage and configure Cisco switches in the Houston office using existing configurations and approved design standards
- Unbox, stage, configure, label, and repackage switches for shipment to remote sites (typically supporting 2-3 sites per week)
- Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, onsite rack-and-stack resources, and other technical team members to execute refresh activities
- Lead switch refresh implementations during scheduled maintenance windows (primarily Saturdays and Sundays), including:
- Removing legacy switches
- Installing and repatching new switches
- Performing post-install validation and testing
- Troubleshoot connectivity or configuration issues during and after implementations, escalating to vendors or internal teams as needed
- Work with AT&T and other partners for access point deployments and wireless-related activities
- Support additional network initiatives as needed, including new construction projects and warehouse expansions, focusing on design and BOM development for switching and wireless infrastructure
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Cisco switching (configuration, staging, refresh, and troubleshooting)
- Hands-on experience with Aruba wireless solutions
- Proven experience supporting switch refresh or large-scale network refresh projects
- Ability to review, interpret, and validate network designs and drafts
- Experience building bills of materials (BOMs) and translating designs into deployable solutions
- Comfortable working in a data center / wiring closet environment (rack, stack, repatching, validation)
- Experience coordinating with Project Managers, onsite field resources, and external vendors (e.g., AT&T)
- Strong troubleshooting skills during live cutovers and maintenance windows
- Willingness and ability to work weekends and be onsite in Houston as required
- Self-directed, detail-oriented, and capable of technically driving refresh activities end to end
