Job description

Insight Global is looking for a proactive and detail-driven Network Engineer to join the service provider team for one of our largest Telecom clients. This resource will be supporting the design, testing, and monitoring of high-performance networks. This role involves hands-on configuration and troubleshooting of service provider-grade routers and switches, with a focus on routing protocols such as IS-IS, BGP, Segment Routing, and MPLS. The engineer will conduct performance and reliability testing using tools like Ixia and Spirent, analyze logs, and maintain structured documentation of test cases and results. Responsibilities also include working with NETCONF, gNMI, and streaming telemetry for network configuration and monitoring, implementing network security measures including ACLs and protocol authentication, and contributing to automation efforts through CLI-based tools and configuration templates. The ideal candidate will collaborate across software, QA, and operations teams, stay current with industry trends, and demonstrate technical expertise in VPN services, QoS policies, and performance monitoring protocols such as BFD and TWAMP.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field. -Strong fundamentals on Layer 2/3 networking concepts and protocols. in a core networking / lab environment. -Hands-on experience in IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, IP addressing and traffic engineering. -Proficiency in NETCONF, YANG models, and streaming telemetry (e.g., gRPC, gNMI). -Experience with network testing tools such as Ixia, Spirent, or similar. -Ability to capture and interpret logs using tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, or vendor-specific logging utilities. -Excellent documentation skills. -Basic scripting knowledge (Python)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIP or equivalent. -Experience with automation frameworks and test orchestration tools. -Prior involvement in lab certification testing, field deployment, or automation infrastructure
