Job description
Analyze organizational processes, procedures, and configuration management methodologies to identify improvement opportunities and ensure adherence to best practices. Develop, implement, and maintain configuration management plans, policies, and procedures to govern the identification, control, and status of configuration items (CIs) across the project or enterprise
- Establish and administer configuration identification processes, including defining and maintaining software and hardware configuration baselines and item nomenclature
- Review and document configuration items, including hardware, software, documentation, and related artifacts; maintain accurate records in configuration management systems (e.g., CMDB, version control repositories)
- Coordinate and control change management activities, including logging, evaluating, approving, and tracking change requests (CRs) and ensuring all changes are documented and authorized
- Conduct configuration status accounting, provide regular reports on the current configuration, change status, and audit results to stakeholders and management
- Perform configuration audits and verification activities to ensure compliance with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and contract/Government furnished specifications
- Facilitate and participate in configuration management and change control board (CCB) meetings, presenting proposed changes, impact assessments, and recommendations
- Advise project managers, system engineers, and other stakeholders on configuration management best practices, policies, and procedures to promote consistency and control across the project lifecycle
- Prepare and present documentation and reports on configuration management activities, including compliance status, audit findings, process improvements, and risk analyses
- Support training, communication, and outreach efforts to ensure effective adoption of configuration management practices and tools throughout the organization
- Monitor, evaluate, and recommend continuous process improvements in configuration management and change control practices to increase operational effectiveness and quality
Requirements

Minimum of 10 years' experience providing CM services., * Relevant certifications (often required or highly desirable in government/defense environments), such as:

Configuration Management certifications (e.g., CMII, CMPIC, CMMI)

Project Management Professional (PMP)

ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)

CompTIA certifications (e.g., Security+, Network+)

Agile or DevOps certifications (e.g., SAFe, Scrum Master)

NIST, FedRAMP, or other compliance-related certificates

Training and Continuing Education:
-
Ongoing participation in industry training or continuing education in configuration management, change control, data management, compliance, and relevant software tools (e.g., CMDB, version control systems) is typically encouraged or required.
EDUCATION
- Degree: BS or BA degree in a computer or Information Science field or a relevant technical discipline.
ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: An additional 4 years of relevant work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree or 6 additional years of work experience with a relevant associate degree.
SECURITY CLEARANCE - SECRET
Condition of Employment: Applicant must hold an active DoD SECRET clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Benefits & conditions
The typical annual salary range for this position is $88,000.00 USD to $110,000.00 USD. Salary will be based on current qualifications, directly related experience, geographic location, and possible contractual requirements which could fall outside of this range.
