Job description
Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist I (IT Specialist I) is primarily responsible for the monitoring, administration, and troubleshooting of user-facing network systems and infrastructure components. Other duties include writing and tracking WAN circuit orders with service providers, writing specifications and supervising projects for IT construction for new remote sites, implementing and administering uninterruptible power supply platforms, physical installation and connectivity for user-facing network devices (switches and wireless access points) and other remote site network devices, administration of DHCP services, administration of network monitoring platforms, opening and managing change and trouble tickets with vendors, decommissioning network equipment in vacated offices, surveying equipment that has reached end-of-life, and conducting annual equipment inventory . Travel may be required up to 20% of the time., Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California. All telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week. Schedules are subject to change.
Requirements
Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (please attach your letter, if available). SROA and Surplus candidates are given priority; therefore, individuals with other eligibility may be considered in the event no SROA or Surplus candidates apply. Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).
