Job description
Insight Global is looking for a GIS Field Technician role for one of our large engineering clients. Position job will be a great first step into electric distribution and will provide a valuable foundation for a career in the power delivery industry. Please see some of the job responsibilities below
- Work as member of Joint USE/Fiber Make Ready Team to do in-field GIS data collection and make education in-field design suggestions based on field data.
- Work environment will be 80% - 90% in-field.
- This individual will use a hasting stick to measure Joint Use attachment heights & utility-owned distribution lines/attachments.
- Field data will be collected using Leidos proprietary software to update utilities GIS and make design determinations.
- Travel typically will be limited to specific client region where candidate is located (Norfolk, VA and Surrounding Areas) but will occasionally require travel to other regions throughout Virginia with multiple overnight stays
Requirements
Engineering Tech. Degree or Bachelor's degree in a GIS, scientific or equivalent discipline
- Esri's ArcGIS suite or other GIS software
- Candidate must be comfortable on the road Mon-Thursday 2-3 weeks per month. All expenses covered.
- Candidate must be comfortable working outside 90% of the time - whether permitting.
- Hard working and strong communicator - eager to grow their career with the client
