Job description
Permitting Support Prepare and submit permit applications to cities, counties, DOTs, and other agencies.
Track permit statuses, deadlines, and conditions.
Communicate with municipalities, inspectors, and internal teams to ensure compliance.
Maintain organized records of all permitting documentation.
GIS & Mapping Update and maintain GIS datasets for utility assets, easements, and project areas.
Create maps, exhibits, and reference materials for engineering and construction teams.
Perform basic spatial analysis to support project planning and routing.
CAD Drafting Produce and revise drawings using AutoCAD or similar drafting tools.
Assist in preparing construction plans, site layouts, and utility sketches.
Incorporate redlines, markups, and design updates into accurate drawings.
Requirements
Required Interest in utilities, infrastructure, engineering, or environmental work.
Basic experience with GIS, AutoCAD, or similar mapping/drafting tools (school projects count).
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams and permitting agencies.
Enjoyment of the outdoors and curiosity about how utility systems are built and maintained.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Coursework or experience in drafting, GIS, geography, engineering technology, or environmental studies.
Familiarity with permitting processes or municipal regulations.
Experience reading maps, site plans, or utility drawings.
A desire to grow into design, engineering support, project coordination, or field-related roles.
