Job description
The position of System Administrator is established to perform highly complex LAN/WAN (Local Area Network and Wide Area Network) projects involving the design, analysis, maintenance, and implementation of LAN/WAN equipment and networks and perform system administration of microcomputers. Must have strong programming background and SQL experience., Design, analyze, maintain and implement LAN/WAN equipment and networks; work on all LAN/WAN installation projects; lead a LAN/WAN System Analyst team in strategic LAN/WAN planning; develop technical policies and procedures regarding LAN/WAN activities.
- Provide technical support to all departments connected to the mainframe.
- Meet with customer representatives to coordinate LAN/WAN installations, and train administrators as needed per project.
- Coordinate assigned service requests to meet requesting department dates within established department standards.
- Test, evaluate, and recommend selections of standard LAN/WAN components.
- Responsible for system administration of the LAN/WAN as well as microcomputers.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in written form, technical information with a wide variety of individuals and groups.
- Design, analyze and implement LAN/WAN equipment; design cost effective system configuration that meet the users' needs.
- Administer and maintain all computer systems and programs.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with end users, vendors, and managers.
- Identify and resolve hardware and software problems.
- Define user needs and recommend alternatives.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Information Services, or related field, or CNE Certification.

Knowledge of hardware and software installation, testing, and operation; knowledge of application of computer software for automating highly diverse /organization activities.

Capability and capacity of various software products/communication utilities.

Knowledge of the principles of data communications and telecommunications.

Knowledge of micro/mini/mainframe computer operating systems.

Knowledge of local area network concepts and fundamentals.

Knowledge of teleprocessing and telecommunications architecture.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or more up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or more up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Knowledge and experience with the following computer applications: VM Ware, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Solomon, CRM and other applications are plus.
