Are you passionate about working on enterprise networks within a higher education environment? Join the University of Colorado and play a crucial role in supporting the networks that power groundbreaking medical research at CU Anschutz, as well as the diverse academic pursuits of undergraduates at the Denver Auraria Campus. We are seeking multiple Network Administrators who can expertly support the university's network infrastructure from layer 1 to layer 3. We seek those ready to go from fixing cabling errors to network switch/router configuration errors and beyond. Our Network Administrators provide the first line of network technical support and work on Wi-Fi, wired networks, telephony, paging, low-voltage project coordination, and even more., * Work on a multi-vendor low-voltage cabling plant.
- Support LAN connections connecting the university departments, remote clinics, and custom education environments.
- Configure and install switches, assist other teams with deployment of routers and wireless access points.
- Troubleshoot wired and wireless connectivity.
- Work with an energetic and fast-paced team to implement big changes on a short timeline.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in: Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Education, or a related field
- Substitution: 4 years of professional or high-level technical work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree. An associate's degree with two years of relevant work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree, * Bachelor's degree in: Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Education, or a related field
- 1 year of experience in enterprise network and voice administration.
- Hands-on experience with VoIP phone systems, including provisioning, troubleshooting, and user support.
- Experience with layer 1 and 2 networking.
- Familiarity with structured cabling systems (copper and fiber).

- 2 years of experience in enterprise network and voice administration.
- Hands-on experience with VoIP phone systems, including provisioning, troubleshooting, and user support.
- Experience with layer 1 and 2 networking.

- Experience supporting users in a multi-departmental or enterprise environment.

- Industry certifications such as Network+ or A+
- BICSI fundamentals certification or equivalent structured cabling certification.
- Experience with data center environments and structured cabling.
- Experience with enterprise-grade switching and routing platforms.
- Experience supporting network and voice infrastructure projects.
- Experience working in higher education or public sector IT is preferred.
INTERMEDIATE & SENIOR
- Industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Juniper Networks Certified Associate - Junos (JNCIA-Junos).
- BICSI fundamentals certification or equivalent structured cabling certification.
- Experience with data center environments and structured cabling.
- Experience with enterprise-grade switching and routing platforms.
- Experience supporting network and voice infrastructure projects.
- Experience working in higher education or public sector IT is preferred.
- Experience supporting users in a multi-departmental or enterprise environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding of access layer networking and voice technologies, including VoIP phone systems.
- Familiarity with LAN/WAN environments and wireless networking. (e.g., IEEE 802.11).
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and follow established procedures.
- Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional IT teams.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under tight deadlines.
- Flexibility to work outside standard business hours when needed.
INTERMEDIATE & SENIOR
In addition to those above:
- Strong understanding of access layer networking and voice technologies, including VoIP phone systems.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve network and voice service issues independently.
- Experience supporting and administering VoIP phone systems in an enterprise environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Conditions of Employment
- Most work is performed during normal business hours, however, out-of-hour work may be expected including late nights, early mornings, or weekends. This position must be flexible in their work hours to meet the needs of the University community.
- Ability to travel between campuses (Denver and Anschutz).

- ENTRY: $60,255 - $61,500
- INTERMEDIATE: $65,572 - $70,000
- SENIOR: $70,889 - $90,171
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
