Job description
We are seeking an experienced AWS Migration Architect to lead large-scale application and infrastructure migrations from legacy environments to AWS. This role is pivotal in defining current-state to target-state architectures, establishing migration factories, and creating scalable, secure, and reusable patterns to accelerate cloud adoption. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineering PODs, guide teams through architectural decisions, and ensure seamless execution across complex migration programs. This role is central to one of the organization's most critical modernization and cloud transformation initiatives., * Design and own large-scale current-state and target-state architectures for applications migrating to AWS.
- Analyze legacy applications and map them to modernized AWS-native architectures.
- Define standardized architectural patterns, blueprints, and frameworks for migration PODs.
- Establish factory-based migration models enabling repeatable, scalable execution.
- Identify and address compatibility gaps between legacy platforms and AWS services.
- Recommend alternate architecture approaches when standard patterns do not fit specific use cases.
- AWS & Cloud Expertise
- Provide technical leadership across AWS services, ensuring adherence to AWS architectural best practices.
- AWS Outposts experience is a strong plus.
- Guide engineering teams on cloud design decisions related to compute, storage, networking, observability, and integrations.
- Ensure all architectures meet standards for scalability, resilience, cost optimization, and operational efficiency.
- Migration Execution
- Lead and support large-scale migrations including re-host, re-platform, and refactor strategies.
- Define migration waves, dependencies, readiness assessments, and cutover approaches.
- Support application teams during execution, troubleshooting, and stabilization.
- Ensure migration plans align with business timelines, SLAs, and risk tolerance.
- Security & Networking
- Ensure migration architectures comply with enterprise security, compliance, and networking standards.
- Work with security and network teams to design secure landing zones and compliant AWS foundations.
- Address IAM, data protection, encryption, segmentation, and secure connectivity patterns.
- POD & Team Enablement
- Participate in design and architecture review discussions across PODs.
- Help set up POD structures and onboard applications into migration teams.
- Act as the primary architectural contact for PODs throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Mentor engineers, leads, and architects on cloud and migration best practices.
Requirements
Do you have experience in System design?, * 10+ years of experience in application architecture and system design.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services and architectures.
- Proven success leading large-scale migration programs.
- Deep understanding of application dependencies, modernization strategies, and refactoring patterns.
- Experience defining enterprise-level, multi-application architectures.
- Strong knowledge of cloud security, compliance, IAM, and networking principles.
- Ability to evaluate legacy systems and design modernized cloud-native replacements.
- Experience with AWS Outposts.
- Prior experience establishing migration factories or leading large-scale transformation initiatives. Exposure to hybrid cloud or on-prem
- cloud migration patterns.
- AWS certifications (Solution Architect - Professional preferred).
- Excellent listener with a strong analytical and critical thinking mindset.
