Job description

We are seeking a Network & Communications Engineer to lead the modernization and optimization of our enterprise network and communications environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who can assess a mixed legacy environment, recommend improvements, and execute end-to-end solutions across networking, security, and VoIP systems. You will play a key role in transitioning our infrastructure to a Cisco Meraki-based architecture while enhancing performance, security, and manageability across global operations., * Evaluate current network environment and recommend scalable, secure, and manageable solutions.

  • Design, implement, and support LAN, WAN, VLAN, VPN, and cloud-connected network infrastructure.
  • Lead migration from legacy systems (Fortinet, SonicWall, Ubiquiti) to Cisco Meraki firewalls, switches, and wireless.
  • Configure and manage Cisco Catalyst (Meraki-controlled) core switching environment.
  • Optimize firewall configurations, clean up legacy rules, and strengthen network security posture.
  • Implement network segmentation and VLAN strategies to improve performance and security.
  • Support virtualized networking environments (vCenter, VPCs, etc.).
  • Own VoIP systems, including performance tuning (QoS), configuration, and ongoing optimization.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.
  • Manage DNS, DHCP, and related core network services (internal and external providers).
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and SOPs.
  • Lead infrastructure projects from design through deployment and support.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers for installations and upgrades.
  • Support disaster recovery planning, redundancy design, and failover strategies.
  • Provide on-call support for critical incidents and planned maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • Strong ability to assess environments and recommend practical, scalable improvements.
  • Deep experience with firewalls (Fortinet, SonicWall, Cisco Meraki) and network security best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Meraki (firewalls, switching, wireless) strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of VLANs, segmentation, and enterprise network design.
  • Experience with virtual networking (VMware vCenter, VPCs).
  • Strong knowledge of core protocols: DNS, DHCP, NTP, HTTP/S, SMTP, LDAP.
  • Proven experience optimizing VoIP systems and QoS (Teams Voice, PBX, or similar).
  • Experience with network monitoring, diagnostics, and performance tuning tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking (Azure, AWS).
  • Strong documentation, communication, and project leadership skills., * Experience supporting global or multi-site network environments.
  • Industry certifications (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent).
  • ITIL or ITSM experience.
  • Experience with enterprise paging, fax, and messaging systems., * Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent experience (8-10+ years) will be considered in lieu of degree.
