Job description
To support the activities of the IT Department to maximize profitability and provide training to team members to support the organization's mission
Function:
Under the general leadership of the IT Manager, the IT technician is responsible for performing a variety of duties that support MGI's software installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on hardware, software and related equipment.
Essential Responsibilities:
Monitors internal POS systems and external sales reporting system to ensure consistent and accurate communication.
- Partners with store management to correct opening/closing errors in daily processing.
- Ensure proper set up all POS and technology infrastructure hardware at all locations.
- Evaluates daily cash register trends to identify potential user errors, performance issues and integrity issues.
- Partners with store management and loss prevention personnel in dealing with possible POS theft issues.
- Ensures all software packages are properly installed and maintained with necessary updates.
- Ensures network access and connectivity to all organizational technology users.
- Monitors ongoing security needs of the network and user machines.
- Troubleshoots all issues in a timely manner.
- Assists the IT Manager during responses to emergency work requests; troubleshoots network failures and errors; and diagnoses and resolves routine network related problems ensuring timely results and minimal disruption of operations.
- Assists the IT Manager with developing, monitoring, and implementing network security procedures for safeguarding all networking systems.
- Performs facility surveys for network communications; makes recommendations for the layout and location of network components, equipment, cabling, and wiring.
- Travels to and from organizational sites in the performance of duties.
- Troubleshoots and shows an intensive, clear understanding of operating systems, software, and hardware.
- Takes new users through the usage of computer and their processes.
- Maintains an updated inventory of software, hardware, and resources.
- Demonstrates aptitude for continuous learning and innovative thinking.
- Able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Performs any other IT-related duties assigned by the IT Manager during working hours and when necessary sometimes after hour on-call work., Response time to IT issues

Requirements
Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
- Able to work at usually hectic pace with irregular short deadlines and limited number of critical or unusual situations.
- Work without direct supervision.
- Organize workflow for optimal output.
- Operate standard office equipment and material handling equipment.
- Ability to address safety and security concerns.
Education, Training and Experience:
- Minimum of associate's degree or industry certifications required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2-3 years of technology experience, with POS and retail experience preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the installation, configuration, and maintenance of modern computer, network, and software systems. Specifically, Windows (7, 8.1, & 10), Windows Server (2008 R2 & 2012 R2), Active Directory, Microsoft Office 2010, security hardware and software, backup hardware and software, and network hardware.
- Certificates & Licenses: Microsoft and CompTIA certifications preferredHigh school degree or equivalent, preferred
Special Requirements:
Must be able to work occasional after-hours and weekends.
- Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license, appropriate insurance coverage and a privately owned reliable means of transportation to travel throughout territory to visit locations.
- Ability to bend, reach and stand, and lift up to twenty-five pounds on an occasional basis.
