Job description
Provides comprehensive technical support for faculty, staff, and students, including administration and troubleshooting of macOS, Windows 11, and Windows Server environments. Responsible for software installation, system configuration, and maintenance across desktops, labs, and classroom technologies. Delivers responsive help desk support, resolve hardware and software issues, and ensures reliable operation of IT systems to support academic and production workflows.
Dual Reporting: College of Motion Picture Arts (CMPA) and ITS-ITAPP (Information Technology Administration Partnership Program). Partnership to deliver information technology services to support the College of Motion Picture Arts (CMPA). Provides desktop support and audio-visual (A/V) support under the direction and leadership of the ITAPP (IT) Manager. Serves as the first point of contact relating to the distribution and support of information technology resources, providing problem-solving and debugging along with delivering user support to faculty, staff, and students. Provides Support for specialized software and IT services used by the college.
Provides general support: Responsible for installation, configuration, and administration of servers, user accounts, backups, and college IT resources. Assists with troubleshooting and mitigating complex problems related to computer hardware, software, peripherals, network issues, videoconferencing, telephone systems, and other equipment. Serves as liaison with university-wide subject matter experts about a broad, constantly evolving assortment of IT policies, procedures, and technologies. Evaluates available and emerging technologies. Establishes and maintains multi-user databases. In consultation with the IT manager, assists in developing procedures and documentation.
Provides Faculty/Staff Support: Configures and maintains faculty and staff computers. Respond to user requests for assistance and provide solutions to problems. Trains faculty and staff in the use of the standard desktop applications and tools. Assists in maintaining the program's website, online databases, email, and/or other applications. Identifies opportunities to improve and streamline department operations through software or computer enhancements.
Provides Instruction and Production Support: Assists with administration and support of classrooms, computer labs, post-production suites, and multimedia equipment. Provides basic coaching or training in the use of production software and equipment. Assists with A/V classroom support and guides the use of equipment and software. Assists with determining and implementing IT solutions for complex production needs, such as optimizing workflows, discerning compatible video formats and codecs, and configuring production pipelines. Assists with the implementation and maintenance of rendering networks and render farms for digital production. Assists with the implementation of asset management and source control software for computer-based production pipelines.
Assists in tracking and maintaining inventory of IT equipment, accessories, and software licenses. Removes university data on equipment sent to surplus. Tracks supplies and equipment inventories used for IT operations.
Maintains appropriate documentation relating to workstation configurations, lifecycle replacement, and planning. Performs other duties as assigned. Occasional Night, weekend, and after-hour support will be required.
Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, case management, project management, change management, and incident management. Uses automated help desk tracking system and other record keeping procedures to document time and activities. Appropriately utilizes associated tools in accordance with ITS standards., Direct support to Film industry academics and researchers on and off campus as needed. Day is typically 8 am to 5pm but not restricted to those hours. Provides IT support to Labs, Classrooms, Staff, Students and Faculty.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience. (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years.), The ideal candidate would have experience with end-user support in an academic and film industry environment. Experience with Microsoft Office and Windows O/S's and MAC OS's., This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.

The anticipated salary is in the mid $40,000's, commensurate with education and experience.
