Genesis10 is currently seeking an IBM IIDR CDC Engineer for a hybrid position (minimum 3 days per week onsite) with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC, Pennington, NJ, or Plano, TX. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.
This role is responsible for developing and delivering complex software requirements to accomplish business goals. The ideal candidate will operate as a technical lead, guiding other engineers in IBM Infosphere Data Replication (IIDR) work and resolving complex IIDR issues. The position requires a deep understanding of the complete end-to-end architecture involving IBM IIDR, DB2 on Z/OS & UDB, Kafka, Oracle, CockroachDB, and SingleStore.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that software is meeting functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements
- Write code, configure, unit test, and ensure the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system
- Contribute to story refinement and defining requirements
- Participate and guide the team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement
- Perform proof of concepts as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
- Utilize multiple architectural components (data, application, business) in the design and development of client requirements
- Assist the team with resolving technical complexities
- Contribute to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, and triage any issues
- Document and communicate required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality
- Participate and contribute to the delivery/release (CI/CD) events
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in IBM IIDR CDC (Change Data Capture) focusing on real-time database replication, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Deep knowledge of IBM Infosphere Data Replication (IIDR) CDC for z/OS (mainframe) and IIDR CDC on Mid-Range (Red Hat Linux)
- Strong proficiency in z/OS and Unix: JCL, DB2 for Z/OS, RACF permissions, mainframe security concepts, and Unix Shell Scripting
- Well versed in IIDR to Kafka streaming architecture
- Ability to tune CDC log readers, log buffers, throughput optimization, and subscription parallelism
- Skilled in analyzing IIDR diagnostic logs, z/OS system logs, and network issues affecting replication
- Experience identifying performance bottlenecks such as high CPU usage, log volume spikes, or locking/contention issues
- Experienced in configuring IIDR Access server and IIDR Management console
- Strong technical experience supporting near real-time log-based solutions and data movement between heterogenous databases (DB2, Oracle, Singlestore, Cockroach DB)
- Strong subject matter expertise in monitoring health and latency using IIDR
- Ability to perform root cause analysis for replication failures
- Quick learner and self-starter who requires minimal supervision
