The Position is headquartered in Sacramento.
Effective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee shall receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the 3 percent reduction in pay.
Under the general direction of the Technical Services & Infrastructure Support Branch Chief, the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) performs a wide variety of tasks requiring regular innovative problem-solving within broadly stated and non-specific guidelines. The ITS I is primarily responsible for overall Network Administration duties for the California Department of Aging (CDA). The CDA network infrastructure consists of on-prem and cloud based solutions and includes various Windows Servers with file and print services, Intranet, SharePoint/OneDrive, Teams, Microsoft Exchange/Outlook messaging services and multiple models of Windows workstations. It also includes gateways, firewalls, switches and Wi-Fi equipment.
Requirements

- Ability to travel to and from our field office, without delay, to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems while maximizing efficient use of network resources.
- Self-motivated, independent, highly reliable, problem-solver, collaborator.
- Experienced with deployment, administration and troubleshooting of Firewalls, Wi-Fi Controllers and Managed Network Switches in cloud and on-prem environments.
- Experience planning, testing, implementing and/or integrating new network solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with customers and stakeholders.
- Experience with administration of cloud and on-prem network systems and solutions such as Wi-Fi Controllers, Firewalls, Managed Switches and networked UPS., 1. Describe your experience with your most difficult network infrastructure project and how you were able to complete it.
