Network Engineer (Contract) Adaptive Solutions Group (ASG) is a third-party staffing firm that partners with organizations to deliver skilled technical professionals for contract and contract-to-hire engagements. We are currently seeking an experienced Network Engineer for a contract role supporting an enterprise technology environment. This role focuses on the planning, integration, and delivery of network and data center solutions prior to transition into production operations. The position involves direct collaboration with customers, vendors, and internal technical teams to ensure successful project execution. Responsibilities
- Gather proof-of-concept (POC) requirements and translate them into build instructions, as-built documentation, and integration workbooks for production use.
- Execute successful integration of technology solutions according to defined specifications, configuration standards, and best practices.
- Drive projects from kickoff through final approval, ensuring adherence to project plans and timelines.
- Assist internal teams with estimating technical level of effort for integration and engineering activities.
- Configure and integrate multi-vendor networking, wireless, collaboration, server, and storage technologies.
- Develop and communicate project timelines related to technical execution within integration environments.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to peers and project team members.
- Lead collaboration sessions between customers and technology vendors to propose and review design solutions.
- Communicate project status, risks, and milestones to internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in required project and program meetings.
- Conduct quality checks throughout all build stages to ensure documentation accuracy and solution integrity.
- Review and manage change notices with cross-functional project teams.
- Provide feedback on hardware compatibility, installation best practices, power, airflow, and rack considerations.
- Support work instruction development, visual aid creation, and on-site value-add activities as needed.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer or similar technical role.
- Proven ability to diagnose issues, determine root causes, and implement effective technical solutions.
- Strong planning, organization, and project execution skills in deadline-driven environments.
- Experience creating and maintaining detailed technical documentation and integration references.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Experience serving in a player-coach or technical lead capacity.
- Solid knowledge of local and wide area networking concepts and data communications.
- Familiarity with enterprise data center technologies commonly used in large-scale IT environments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering diagrams, rack elevations, and cabling schematics.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards and data center electrical requirements (power, phases, UPS, etc.).
- Understanding of server platforms, storage, and virtualization technologies.
- Comfort working in high-pressure environments with shifting priorities and timelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise network and server hardware platforms.
- Familiarity with virtualization platforms and initial configuration tasks.
- Exposure to unified communications systems and protocols.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP or equivalent.
