Job description

The organization is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain data workflows and automation pipelines using Apache Airflow. This role supports mission-critical data engineering, analytics, and operational use cases by building reliable, scalable, and observable workflow orchestration solutions.

The selected candidate will collaborate closely with data engineers, platform teams, and mission stakeholders to ensure workflows are efficient, secure, and production-ready.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain data workflows and automation pipelines using Apache Airflow
  • Develop scalable and reliable workflow orchestration solutions supporting data engineering and analytics operations
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize workflow performance and reliability
  • Integrate workflows with distributed data processing systems and enterprise platforms
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure and efficient data pipeline operations
  • Support deployment, testing, and continuous improvement of data systems and automation frameworks, * Monthly wellness stipend to support fitness memberships, programs, equipment, or recreational activities.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance (required at time of hire)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Substitution: Seven (7) years of Software Engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Software Engineer
  • Alternative: Seven (7) years of experience without a degree

Required Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Linux CLI and standard Linux tools
  • Experience with Bash scripting
  • Programming experience in Python and Java
  • Experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration
  • Experience with distributed big data processing frameworks, including Apache Spark
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, containerd, and Podman
  • Experience with Git-based source control systems

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite, including Jira and Confluence
  • Familiarity with AWS Cloud services and infrastructure
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and workflow observability tools
