Job description

The Developer (Information Technology Specialist I [ITS I]) performs technical work in the design, development, testing, implementation of enterprise reporting solutions and support of applications and automated solutions used within the department. The Developer contributes to the full Software Development Life Cycle and supports enterprise systems by writing code, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring applications operate efficiently and reliably. The Developer works with business and technical teams to analyze data requirements, build reliable logic, and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of data delivery., The Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) promotes parental responsibility to enhance the well-being of children by providing child support services to establish parentage and collect child support.   • Experience with Java development, enhancement, and maintenance of application code using approved programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
  • Experience with building and optimize Structured Query Language queries, stored procedures, and data extraction routines to support accurate and efficient reporting.
  • Experience in the design, testing, and deployment of reporting and application solutions across development, test, and production environments.
  • Ability to validate data accuracy by performing reconciliation, troubleshooting discrepancies, and resolving defects.
  • Experience using version control tools to manage source code., 1. Describe your experience with developing reporting tools and using Agile Software Development Life Cycle.
  1. Describe your Structured Query Language (SQL) proficiency.
  2. Describe your programming experience (SQL, Java, etc.).
  3. Describe your experience translating business needs into technical solutions.
  4. Describe your problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  5. Provide your experience with communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  6. Describe your experience with Version control.

About the company

Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) is a diverse, family-friendly organization. The headquarters office is in Rancho Cordova, convenient to Highway 50, with free parking, close to restaurants and shopping. The facility consists of a standard office workspace, within a 2-story building, and may require sitting for extended periods of time while using a personal computer, reviewing documents, and attending meetings. The position requires occasional travel to off-site meeting locations, conferences, or training. The work environment is fast paced and requires the incumbent to be flexible, use good time management practices, and effectively identify priorities to complete assignments in a timely manner. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule and requires employees to work two days, each week, on-site at our headquarters office in Rancho Cordova, CA; however, changes to the hybrid/telework program are at the department's and/or Governor's discretion. DCSS does utilize a shared workspace or "hoteling" when working in the office. All employees may be required to report in person to the Rancho Cordova headquarters and/or off-site events or locations, as determined by management.
