Job description

To serve as the technical authority for ICAEW's core infrastructure platforms, providing expert knowledge across areas such as networking, servers, cloud (primarily Azure), storage, Active Directory, and hybrid services. The Infrastructure SME is responsible for advising on technical design, troubleshooting complex issues, supporting project delivery, and helping maintain a secure, stable, and scalable infrastructure foundation. This role ensures that infrastructure is aligned to architectural and security standards, is effectively maintained, and evolves in line with ICAEW's modernisation strategy.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering or administration roles, with deep hands-on knowledge of server, network, and cloud infrastructure
  • Experience supporting hybrid environments with both on-premise infrastructure and Azure-based services
  • Background in supporting enterprise change, upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure modernisation programmes
  • Strong technical knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Azure IaaS/PaaS, virtualisation (Hyper-V or VMware), networking, storage, and backup solutions
  • Microsoft certifications preferred (e.g. Azure Administrator Associate, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate)
