Job description
Build, test, and maintain reliable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver data across the organisation · Support and maintain existing legacy data applications, databases, and ETL processes · Define and enforce data engineering standards, patterns, and best practices · Collaborate with product owners, software developers and DevOps to translate requirements into scalable schemas/data models for next-generation applications · Contribute to platform and infrastructure maintenance including optimising orchestration and warehouse usage, as well as cost-effective database design · Contribute to code reviews, pair programming and knowledge sharing
Requirements
Significant experience in data engineering, with a proven ability to design and operate data pipelines at scale · Strong proficiency in SQL Server/Azure SQL and data stack tools including Azure Data Factory, dbt and Airflow · Solid understanding of data warehousing in Snowflake/Microsoft Fabric and lakehouse patterns · Strong practical skills in logical and physical data modelling, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Desirable · Experience producing comprehensive documentation, including technical decision records, data dictionaries and entity relationship diagrams · Familiarity with DevOps practices such as schema drift detection and database migrations or Data Governance best practices such as cataloguing and lineage · Experience supporting and maintaining relational databases and legacy applications · Knowledge of Financial Services and relevant regulations (e.g. FCA, GDPR)
